Data ExamplesRT66RT66 was written to speed up the process of handling distributions by eliminating the need for more than one person to enter the ordering information. Prior to the development of RT66, the company had to do the following to get orders from the store to the purchase department:
dTrackerA new auto parts distributor did not have a good system in place for tracking which employees were handling which orders. The dispatcher would write each order number on a Post_It_Note along with the employee's name, employee's number, and the type of order. Sometimes, the dispatcher would include the time the order was picked up. At the end of the night, the dispatcher would leave a pile of notes for the next shift to sift through and enter into a spreadsheet. The dispatcher felt that entering the data into the spreadsheet at the time the order was picked up would take too much time. However, the next shift was not too happy about having to spend 4 to 5 hours trying to figure out where all the orders went and who picked them. The company processed an average of 800 orders per day and they were getting ready to take on a new client that would double the total number of orders. It was clear that the Post-It_Note system had to be replaced.dTracker was written so that the dispatcher only had to enter the 4 digit employee number, 4 digit order number, select the order type from a drop down box, and click on the Add Order button. Using dTracker took less time then writing the information on a Post-It-Note, eliminated 100% of the labor required by the next shift to add the information to a spreadsheet, and allowed the company to see how long it took employees to handle the orders that they were given. They were then able to adjust the order types with the employees which helped to increase production. Download dTracker. Note this file contains Macros!
