Software Examples
Here are a couple of examples for some Visual Basic applications that we have created:
Recon
 |
|
Recon is an application used to add vendor contracts to a SQL server database so that the company can track which vendors have contracts and which items are to be included or excluded from the contract. The information in Recon is then used by down stream systems to properly bill the vendor for their items.
The old system was to print the contract and store it in a file cabinet or in most cases just thrown into a box. When it came time for the billing department to bill a vendor, someone had to dig through the boxes and file cabinet and try to find the contract.
We are not sure yet how much labor Recon will save the company. Especially at the beginning, since they will need to hire a contractor to transfer all the paper contracts to Recon |
Hounddog
 |
|
We just finished writing Hounddog on November 4, 2011. Hounddog is an application that searches for data from a variety of sources and then retrieves the data and combines it into a single report that the user can use for down stream systems or to send to the printers.
The old method of creating this report was a very manual process that required 30 to 40 employees to spend an average of 3 to 4 hours each week gathering the data needed for the report. The main problem was that the data came from 4 different systems and in many cases the final report was missing data.
With Hounddog, one employee can pull all of the data needed for the report in less than 20 minutes. This will save the company an average of 160 hours each week. That is enough to free up 4 employees to handle other projects.
